First Presbyterian Church is a congregation with a caring heart that tries to demonstrate the grace of Christ to those in need. To that end, we engage in a number of ministries to meet the needs of people who are often marginalized in our society. To get involved with any of these ministries, please contact the church office.

Community Fellowship
Each Wednesday night, members of the church and community meet at 5:30 for fellowship and to share a simple meal. September through May, we enjoy hot soups and June through August, we try different salads. People bring homemade breads and delicious desserts to share. It is an informal gathering time, meaningful to all who participate. At 6:30 we have singing, prayer and a short message.

Manna House
Each month on the first Wednesday, we prepare and serve up to 200 free hot lunches at our local soup kitchen, Manna House. Volunteers arrive at Manna House at 10:30 that morning and finish up about 1:30.

Senior Grocery Ministry
Each month we collect and purchase groceries, paper and hygiene products which we deliver to a group of 24 low income senior adults who live in the city of Brunswick. Normally, the Senior Grocery Ministry Delivery occurs on the fourth Saturday of each month, with exceptions for holidays like Easter, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Souper Bowl Sunday
On Super Bowl Sunday, we use the energy around the big game to get folks excited about caring for people in our community who are hungry. We collect cans of soup for our Senior Grocery Ministry and all monies collected benefit Manna House!

Mission Offerings

FPC particpates in the following PC(USA) Mission Offerings: One Great Hour of Sharing, Pentecost & Christmas Joy. In addition each Mother’s Day, we receive an offering to benefit the Caring Hands Fund of Presbyterian Homes.

Christmas is a Special Time of Outreach
Angel Tree

At Christmas we sponsor an Angel Tree to provide Christmas gifts for children in need. In addition to gifts for the children, each family receives a generous bag of groceries.

Santa Claus Express
In coordination with the Savannah Presbytery, we collect gifts such as personal care items, blankets, socks, etc. for seniors living in the Swainsboro Presbyterian Homes Apartments.
